Man City Legend Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visit Cityzens Giving Young Leaders in Mexico City to have fun launch of expanded Xylem Water Heroes Academy

Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s international charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the growth of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a worldwide initiative in ten cities using the ability of soccer to sort out native water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over seventy five young leaders and delivered vital water education to more than 6,000 younger people in five cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. The expanded community, which now also includes youth-led projects in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Cape Coast, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, aims to positively influence 20,000 extra young people over the following four years.
Graphical person interface<br/>Description mechanically generated with low confidence” winautomationvisibilitylandmark=”true”><br/>To mark the launch, Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visited the El Coyolito neighbourhood in Mexico City to fulfill Cityzens Giving Young Leaders who’re utilizing the power of soccer to unravel native water points.<br/>Despite heavy flooding and rainfall, Mexico City is going through a water scarcity. More than 20 million residents don’t have enough water to drink for almost half the yearand one in 5 individuals have entry to only a few hours of operating water from their taps per week.<br/>This challenge will see Young Leaders from love.fútbol use specifically tailored football video games to teach younger folks locally on responsible water consumption, in addition to the importance of protected water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).<br/>Zabaleta took part in a youth-led soccer and water pageant and engaged in a Q&A session with younger individuals, before learning a conventional Mexican dance.<br/>Reflecting on his visit, Zabaleta stated: “Meeting the Young Leaders in Mexico City was an amazing expertise. The method they are using soccer to teach youngsters about the significance of water is artistic and provoking, and it’s great to see this distinctive initiative from Cityzens Giving and Xylem increasing to extra cities. The Young Leaders are so engaged with supporting their neighborhood and to have the flexibility to contribute in a small method was a privilege.”<br/>As part of the activity in the country, Young Leaders, Xylem employees and fans from Manchester City’s Official Supporters Club in Mexico City also joined forces to repaint the El Coyolito pitch and create a water-themed mural.<br/>In addition, City within the Community coaches delivered coaching to forty Young Leaders in Mexico City, sharing experience and information in management, group football and WASH. This was followed by a three-day digital Summit, connecting Young Leaders and Xylem experts from all ten cities to share concepts on tackling water challenges via football.<br/>“Climate change continues to threaten water availability in communities across the globe,” said Austin Alexander, Vice President, Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem. “Xylem Water Heroes Academy harnesses the facility of football and younger leaders to deal with these water challenges and make our communities extra resilient.”<br/>Valeria, a Young Leader with love.fútbol mentioned: “We need all the youngsters here to remember that accountable water consumption is very important, and they should deal with it. Later this season, City fans will have a chance to be taught more concerning the five new Water Heroes Academy initiatives and vote for their favourite younger water heroes.
